Teeny, Tiny iTunes Plug-in

What does it do?
  • The Filter for Mac is a small plug-in for iTunes that pays attention to what you play in iTunes and sends the information back to our servers so that we can give you more accurate music recommendations.
  • We don’t do anything else with the data other than use it to improve your recommendations.
  • The software can also create instant playlists for you to enjoy in your iTunes library.

Mac: Requires OS X version 10.4 or higher, iTunes 6.0 or higher.

How does all this work?
  • You will need to download and install The Filter for Mac by dragging the icon into your applications folder. Launch the plug-in by double-clicking on the icon.
  • When prompted you will need to enter your login details for The Filter.
  • When The Filter runs for the first time it will scan your music library and send back the data to The Filter servers. This will mean that we don’t recommend you music that you already own and will also result in The Filter giving you more accurate daily recommendations.
  • The Filter will then sit in your task bar and can display notifications when you start playing a new song. We recommend that you keep The Filter open so that The Filter can stay up-to-date with your changing musical tastes.
  • You can stop The Filter from listening to your iTunes library by unchecking “Listen to iTunes” in the menu.


How do I create instant playlists with The Filter for Mac?

The Filter for Mac uses our advanced recommendation engine to create instant playlists from your iTunes Library. To use this feature highlight a song in iTunes and press Command + 1 on your keyboard. A playlist with music similar to the song that you highlighted should now be instantly created for you in iTunes.

You’ll be spending less time making playlists and more time enjoying them.
